Earlier this year the Osun State governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, has said those who are looting the resources of the state after the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had suffered electoral defeat will be punished.
Sen. Adeleke said this in a statement issued on his behalf by the Chairman, Media/Publicity Sub-committee of the Ademola Adeleke Transition Committee, Olawale Rasheed.
He said diversion of fund was ongoing and about N200 million was about to be diverted through an illegal auction.
There is an ongoing plan to move humongous amount of money out of Osun State Water Corporation, illegal activities of an auctioneer from Iragbiji and current diversion of fund across local governments in the state.
Thus after the Inaugural ceremony The immediate past administration in Osun State led by Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has defined the allegation of looting of government property, by the incumbent governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, against it as unfair and shameful.
Oyetola’s administration was reacting to the videos released in which the new government claimed items were missing in the Government House and quarters of some former political appointees. However, a statement signed by former Information and Citizens Orientation Commissioner Funke Egbemode, Oyetola Administration, said the allegation was tantamount to a failed attempt by Adeleke to credit the name and good governance of the state's former helmsman soil. Having read the statement in parts, we have seen the very ridiculous and shameless claims made by the then government that the government building was looted by the previous government. The extent to which they have peddled their untruth is so preposterous that discerning minds are wondering how a governor who completely renovated Governors Lodge in June can stoop so low for the first-aid kit to empty at the lodge.
It is also important to note here that the State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, was officially informed of the looting of the official residence of Deputy Governor Gboyega Alabi and other quarters within the Government House by ‘unknown men.
In a letter, with reference number SEC 43T/352, dated November 25, 2022, and signed by A.T Komolafe on behalf of the Coordinating Director, Governor’s Office, the NSCDC was notified of the ongoing looting of government properties in different quarters following the vacation of the premises by the then Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. Mr Komolafe, in the letter, asked for armed security to stop the looting in the Okefia GRA, Government House.
